Giving Back

In Girls on the Run, girls develop skills to help themselves, their friends and families and their communities to be their best. Each season, Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole teams learn about gratitude and being grateful for all that they have along with the importance of giving back to their communities and assisting others. These lessons are brought to life by team Community Impact Projects implemented by Girls on the Run teams and kind acts done individually or in pairs by Heart & Sole girls. This season, Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole girls completed over 8,100 projects across the country to help people in their community be joyful, healthy and confident! Here are just a few of the remarkable ways that girls contributed.

GOTR girls from Boston participated in the End of Watch Memorial Run in memory of soldiers who died in Afghanistan. The girls ran with the flag that was in motion on the track for 24 consecutive hours.

Girls from Girls on the Run of Van Buren and Cass County collected nonperishable food items and $450 for those in need in their community.

Girls in Rhode Island raised over $1,200 to support Alex's Lemonade Stand in support of pediatric cancer research through a lemonade stand on online fundraising.

GOTR Girls in Charlotte made posters to support kids staying at a local children's hospital to help them celebrate birthdays and holidays.

Heart & Sole girls from Las Vegas made a Gratitude Garden for their 5k event. The two pieces of interactive art encouraged girls to write one word about how Girls on the Run made them feel and fostered a sense of connection between all of the participants.
