Selfies, filters and Emjois are the new norm for today's teenagers. Despite the bad reputation that social media has earned, it can also provide an opportunity for girls to seek out encouraging messages and expand their worldview. To help you and your daughter have conversations about social media and seeking out positive influences in our lives both online and offline, we've selected five of our favorite Instagram accounts that encourage physical, emotional and spiritual health.
@katetparkerphotography: Photographer Kate T. Parker's account redefines beauty with her theme of #strongisthenewpretty. Her photos are both stunning and inspirational, showcasing young women who are joyful, healthy and confident.
@amaheris: This hand-lettering extraordinaire shares inspiring messages that are sure to make you happy when they pop up in your Instagram feed. Along with the quotes, we love seeing how Ashley gives back to her community. She recently used her design skills to adorn cups that were then used to serve hot chocolate as a treat for people at a homeless shelter in Boston.
@outdoorwomen: Outdoor Women's Alliance encourages girls to get out and explore the world around them by sharing photos from female adventurers. Your girl doesn't have to be a nature-lover to appreciate the exciting stories and amazing locations that they share.
"Enjoy the little things in life," says @sandramolnes quoting Kurt Vonnegut, "because one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things." Little moments with your outdoor crew counts as a big thing. â¤ï¸Ž Norway. :: Got an outdoor crew you're grateful for, #outdoorwomen? Give them some â¤ï¸Ž in the comments!

Since yoga teacher training is coming up soon, I want to make sure I practice everyday till then. My body feels a bit tight right now, especially my backbends. So I wanted to do another #SelfLovingYogis backbend challenge from December 1st-14th. In the next day I'll post a flyer. Top by @Prana 🃠Leggings by @fractal.9 💜
